Colombo-based pharmaceutical company Vesalius Pharma, headquartered in Bogotá, has invited Indian companies to export children's multivitamins and antifreeze powder, among others.
Colombo is the administrative and legal capital of Sri Lanka. Located on the west coast of the island, Colombo is the most important port in the Indian Ocean.
Currently, 85% of medical needs are imported and local producers cover 15% of the need. Local medicine in Sri Lanka is valued at $750 million, with a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) forecast of 4.1%. "Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has received notice from Vesalius Pharma that it wants urgently to provide the following products for import without registration.
In addition to the first product, the product mentioned after the first batch, the registration of these products Colombian company .requires artwork on the package and blister pack, insert or leaflet, GMP certificate, Certificate of Analysis (CoA) of the last batch and methods of analysis,” said Uday Bhaskar, General Manager of Pharmexcil.
The products the company needs are children's multivitamins, lyophilized powder, vial, and ACD trivitamins: Vitamin A, Vitamin C and D, solution, dropper bottle or calibrated dropper.
Freeze-dried powder is a powder made by freezing. Lyophilization turns a drug from a liquid into a stable solid by removing water or other solvents. Drug developers are increasingly interested in this technology because it can extend the shelf life of both small and large molecule drugs. "This facility is open to member companies that operate in Colombia or the LATAM region and handle certain products," Bhaskar added.
