Telangana Secures Rs 11,100 Cr Life Sciences Investment at BioAsia 2025

Telangana received investment commitments from the life sciences sector of ?11,100 crore, which is meant to generate over 22,300 jobs. The announcement was made at BioAsia 2025, a basic platform for industry leaders, scientists, and policymakers to discuss various developments in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare.

Tuesday's announcement see a part of the investments target the Green Pharma City initiative the state has initiated. Telangana signed 17 MoUs with companies Granite, Orbicular, Biological E, Bharat Biotech, and Sai Life Sciences, catering to ?5,445 crore and expected to generate 9,800 jobs.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said, "These investments reaffirm Telangana’s position as a leading destination for life sciences, pharma, and biotech. We are committed to providing world-class infrastructure and policies that support innovation, research, and job creation in the sector".

A large, global life sciences corporation is now expanding in Hyderabad. MSD, USA, is joining the ecosystem of Telangana, owing to the research and manufacturing capabilities of the city. Agilisium, a Los Angeles-based company, launched a Life Sciences Innovation & Talent Development Lab. ALS is setting up a cGMP biopharma testing lab in Genome Valley, while Meishi Pharma is setting up its second R&D center in Hyderabad.

"Over the past 12 months, we have seen a surge in investments from both domestic and global life sciences companies, establishing R&D centers, innovation hubs, and manufacturing units in the state. Telangana is rapidly integrating into the global pharma supply chain, strengthening its role in bulk drugs and generic pharma", said Industries Minister, D Sridhar Babu.

"Skilling and workforce development remain our key priorities. We are ensuring that our talent pool is globally competitive and industry-ready", he added.

The state is also targeting research and workforce development. Telangana signed the Letter of Intent with the University of Queensland for advancing AI-driven healthcare and digital innovations and was chosen as the first Indian hub under the World Economic Forum's Indian Digital Health Activator.

Under the plan, the government proposed to develop ten new pharmaceutical villages between the Outer Ring Road and the upcoming Regional Ring Road, which is estimated to generate over five lakh jobs.
