States to set up centers for BioE3

Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced the establishment of BioE3 Cells in states to function as interconnected knowledge centers that will nurture the biomanufacturing sector of India. BioE3 Cells positioned between state and national stakeholders will enable smooth execution of BioE3 policy with its goal to advance biomanufacturing performance throughout multiple industries.

The BioE3 policy launched during the previous year seeks to develop bio-based products as a national strategy which addresses agricultural and climate change requirements and industrial sustainability needs. According to industry experts, the framework will establish India as an environmental biomanufacturing leader, which reduces dependence on chemical manufacturing and improves national sustainability.

Chairing the Centre-State Partnership Conclave on BioE3 Policy, the Minister of State for Science and Technology emphasized the critical role of a strong Centre-state collaboration. "It is crucial to establish 'BioE3 Cells' in the states in partnership with the Centre through the Department of Biotechnology (DBT). These BioE3 Cells will function as an interconnected knowledge hub, linking state and national stakeholders to drive the effective implementation of the BioE3 policy," Singh stated.

Each state is encouraged to establish its own BioE3 Cell, which will unite biomanufacturing activities with regional capabilities through national collaboration. This network of states across the country will strengthen industry growth through the combination of advanced technologies and innovative research while promoting sustainable practices.
