Amid controversy surrounding allegations of carcinogenic ethylene oxide, a type of pesticide, found in specific spice packets, MDH (Mahashian Di Hatti) has refuted these claims, stating they lack evidence. The renowned over-100-year-old brand emphasized that it has not received any official communication from regulatory bodies in Singapore or Hong Kong regarding this issue.

MDH clarified that it doesn't utilize ethylene oxide in any stage of its spice storage, processing, or packaging. The company highlighted that neither the Spice Board of India nor FSSAI has been informed by authorities in Hong Kong or Singapore, reinforcing the unsubstantiated nature of the accusations against MDH.

Both MDH and Everest, two major players in India's spice market, have faced scrutiny over alleged food safety concerns. MDH Group reassured consumers of its adherence to health and safety standards, domestically and internationally, emphasizing its commitment to delivering authentic, high-quality spices as reflected in its tagline, "asli masale sach sach."

MDH and Everest dominate India's branded spice market, which analysts estimate to be worth well over Rs 20,000 crore.
