Siemens Healthineers today opened a new manufacturing facility in Bengaluru for Magnetic Resonance Imaging machines. MAGNETOM Free.Star, a disruptively simple approach to high-quality MRI, will be manufactured in India at the moment. The company is dedicated to manufacturing computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) devices under the Government of India's production linked incentive (PLI) scheme. The new facility has been approved by the Government of India and the Department of Pharmaceuticals under the radiology and imaging medical devices segment of the production linked incentive scheme.. "We have always believed in holistic growth, and the government's encouragement has consistently fueled our ambitions."
"We are thrilled to be able to contribute even more to India's growth story and pioneer healthcare for everyone, everywhere with the expansion of our manufacturing footprint in India," said Vivek Kanade, managing director, Siemens Healthcare Private Limited. Medical device manufacturing is a priority industry for the Indian government's flagship 'Make in India' initiative, according to the government. The Department of Pharmaceuticals implemented a production-linked incentive scheme with the goal of encouraging significant investment in the industry and supporting domestic manufacturing. The scheme has provided the necessary impetus to India's goal of becoming a major hub for the production of medical devices, which has been aided further by the government's investor-friendly initiatives.
MAGNETOM Free.Star is a designed-for-purpose scanner that can be deployed to truly improve the lives of people by helping to diagnose and treat the most prevalent diseases. Addressing the need of the hour, it is built on the latest DryCool technology and is virtually helium-free scanner with an ultra-compact footprint that is far easier to install. The company recently laid the groundwork for a new campus in Bengaluru that will integrate R&D, manufacturing, an innovation hub, and the India headquarters, establishing India as a core centre of competence for the design and development of entry-level products. The futuristic campus aims to foster collaboration and creativity while also providing environmentally friendly, sustainable, and energy-efficient solutions.
