Rajnath Singh Urges AMC to Embrace Tech for Better Healthcare Services

''The medical sector is going through a phase of technological transformation across the globe, and the Army Medical Corps (AMC) must continue adopting latest advancements to provide quality health services to our soldiers,'' said Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh while addressing the 261st Raising Day celebrations of AMC at Army Hospital (Research & Referral), Delhi Cantt. on April 03, 2025.

While the Raksha Mantri acknowledged AMC's initiatives of adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) and carrying out research into advanced technologies, he focused on the requirement of keeping up with evolving practices to bring about a new wave of innovation in the realm.  He pitched for more simulator-based training for the expertise in each medical procedure through machine-based learning to be acquired. He said that more research and training centres will also be required for the personnel in order to do this.

Shri Rajnath Singh pointed out the necessity to create dual-use technologies, that can be of use to defence and civilian purposes. He stated that civil-military convergence in the field of defence technologies is significant for overall development, and commended AMC for working with the academic space including ICMR, IITs & AIIMS, and medical activities of other countries. He also stated, AMC could look into the potential for medical professionals of other developing and under-developed countries to train in India as a potential to endorse India in military diplomacy.

The Raksha Mantri commended the outstanding role of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AMC) in transforming the health system - be it infrastructure, services or policy and implementation- He further mentioned that the AMC has improved the combat medical readiness of the Armed Forces by placing Advanced Mobile Surgical Units and Rapid Response Medical teams in the field.

The indigenously developed Trauma Management System and AI-based medical triage systems, have improved emergency response time and patient care. Shri Rajnath Singh added that services of the AMC does not confine to the serving soldiers and they are constantly working for the welfare of the ex-servicemen and their families.
