A team of three talented B Tech (Computer Engineering) students from NMIMS School of Technology Management and Engineering (STME), Indore, Riyanshi Bariya, Vandita Pathak, and Shalom Ram, have developed a healthcare device 'Sehat Sathi: A Smart and Automated Medication Dispenser in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST)-Government of India (GoI), Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), DST-Centre for Policy Research at Punjab University, and the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PCOST).The team of students developed the idea through their personal experiences and observations, identifying the growing issue of medical non-compliance among the elderly, at times even leading to severe cases of hospitalization and emergency attention, as per Pharmabiz. The students intended to find a solution to this societal challenge. They devised the idea for 'Sehat Sathi' after significant study and brainstorming, integrating cutting-edge technology such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) in a cost-effective manner. The revolutionary Sehat Sathi is a smart medicine dispenser integrated with an IR sensor that has compartments for each day of the week. It is controlled using a smartphone application. The gadget addresses the issue of medical noncompliance by using real-time monitoring technology to track whether drugs are taken on time.If a patient fails to take their medicine, the gadget connects with the mobile application, which sends a notice to the user, reminding them to take their medication. Furthermore, Sehat Sathi offers caregivers remote monitoring, making it a vital tool for enhancing medication adherence and patient outcomes.
