A significant business delegation from the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry is set to engage in discussions with Indian manufacturers and exporters in New Delhi from September 5 to 10, 2023, with the aim of forging potential joint ventures and collaborations. The Nigeria-India Presidential Roundtable and Conference, scheduled for September 6, will serve as a pivotal platform for these negotiations.
The delegation comprises prominent representatives and companies from Nigeria's pharmaceutical sector, including Fidson Healthcare Plc, Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, EKO Pharmacy Limited, May & Baker Nigeria Plc, Mc Olivia Limited, and Dedoo Bio Plus Pharmacare Ltd, among others. This delegation's visit holds immense potential for various stakeholders, including pharmaceutical ingredients manufacturers, organizations involved in wellness and self-care promotion, capacity strengthening and development for the pharmaceutical sector, vaccine manufacturers, radiopharmaceutical producers, and WHO-approved contract research organizations.
India recognizes Nigeria as a vital trading partner in the African region, making this delegation's visit strategically important. Nigeria is one of the leading importers of Indian generic medicines, boasting a substantial USD 12 billion generic market and accounting for 38.25% of India's generic medicine share. This collaborative effort seeks to leverage the growing opportunities in Africa's pharmaceutical market, emphasizing India's role in supplying high-quality pharmaceutical products to meet the region's healthcare needs.
