Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh recently addressed the “Doctors’ Sammelan” organized by BJP, where he shared his perspective on the challenges faced by the healthcare sector in Jammu & Kashmir. Dr Singh highlighted that certain constitutional and administrative barriers have hindered the region's healthcare sector's growth.
Dr Singh further stated that previous governments had not paid adequate attention to improving healthcare facilities in J&K, which resulted in the region's people being deprived of affordable healthcare facilities for several decades. However, he expressed optimism that the situation has improved significantly since the appointment of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister in 2014.
Dr Singh noted that after removing all constitutional barriers by the prime minister in 2019, which were deliberately put in place to push the erstwhile state backward, the corporate sector is joining the health sector in J&K to improve the healthcare facilities in the UT. He emphasized that it is the result of PM Modi’s policies that Apollo will set up a hospital in Jammu and that media cities are also being set up in different parts of the UT, including Kashmir.
Dr Singh expressed confidence that there will now be synergy in the public and private sectors. He believes that integrating the health sector into the UT will make it one of the most cost-effective healthcare destinations in the world, with rapid improvement expected due to the arrival of the Corporate Sector. Dr Singh also highlighted that with the tireless efforts of PM Modi, India will emerge as one of the top bio-manufacturing countries in the world, further enhancing the country's potential as a cost-effective healthcare destination.
