Hari Bhartia, Founder and Co-Chairman of Jubilant Bhartia Group, explored the opportunities for collaboration between India and the United States in an interview at the CNBC-TV18 USIBC India Ideas Summit. The two countries are investigating opportunities in a number of industries, including aviation, pharmaceuticals, and food, with a focus on innovation, growth, and collaboration. "The United States may be the Mecca for innovation, but India is catching up very quickly," said Bhartia in the interview. He noted that India currently has 5,000 biotech companies operating in the country, emphasising the industry's growth and partnership opportunities.
He also mentioned that India's food industry has been growing rapidly and drawing significant worldwide companies. Bhartia spoke about the success of businesses like as McDonald's, underlining the significance of offering an excellent product at a reasonable price for everyone. "When we first considered bringing a US brand to India, one thing we learned from the US is that large brands, such as McDonald's or Domino's, have done well because they provide great product at a good value." Jubilant, one of India's leading food companies, is known for its popular pizza chain Domino's, and has focused on consistently delivering value to its customers, he said. Bhartia mentioned that they have not increased prices but leveraged their scale to provide greater value.
Their principle of bringing value to the customer has been pivotal in their growth, and Jubilant has grown to become the second-largest chain in the world. "If I look at our own journey in the last 10 years, I don't think we have actually increased prices. And today it is the second largest in the world." Jubilant has invested in innovative supply chain management systems in order to expand further. Rather than focusing primarily on front-end shop investments, Bhartia underlined the importance of a solid back-end infrastructure, including a strong supply chain. Bhartia also spoke on the brisk potential for collaboration between India and the United States in the aviation business. Indian firms are already manufacturing for European aviation authorities and collaborating with US aviation firms. He urged US firms like GE Aviation to invest in India's aviation sector, emphasising the potential for successful collaborations.
