India and Taiwan have formed a new partnership to develop and promote breakthrough health-tech solutions. The International Trade Administration, Government of Taiwan, and the Commerce Development Research Institute (CDRI), as the Taiwan Government's executing arm, have collaborated with EMPI Institutions and its Atal Incubation Centre-EMPI as the India partner to organize a series of B2B meetings and strategic partnerships between Indian and Taiwanese health tech companies. The first round of such a meet was held in Mumbai on October 6, 2023.
The programme is supported by the Taiwan Government under the WoW! Taiwan Project. Wow! Taiwan is a government-funded project that showcases Taiwan’s products and solutions in various fields, including health tech, as per pharmabiz Yu-Chi Chen, director, Economic Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India Pankaj Saran, president, EMPI Institutions, Jayant Kumar, deputy drug controller (India), West Zone, Amit Gosiya from Meril Life Sciences, and Rajeev Srivastava from Tata Digital Health were among those who attended the event. Jayant Kumar, the event's principal guest, commended the initiative and discussed India's focus on Medical Devices with potential to Make in India. He also emphasized the Indian government's Aayushman Bharat Digital Mission one of the world's largest flagship digital healthcare programs aimed at providing universal health coverage to all citizens.
