Herbalife Nutrition India, a global nutrition firm, has entered the eye health segment with its new product, 'Ocular Defense,' in keeping with its commitment to nutrition and wellness. The product is available in capsule form and has been scientifically formulated to support eye health. The product contains nutrients that support macular health and help maintain normal vision. Ocular Defense contains lutein and zeaxanthin, which have been clinically proven to support macular health and improve macular pigment optical density.
The macula is the central portion of the retina that helps you see clearly what's in front of you, and its density, measured as Macular Pigment Optical Density, can indicate an eye's macular health (MOPD). MPOD assesses the concentration of carotenoids (lutein and zeaxanthin, which help filter blue light) in the eye's macular pigment. Blue light has the potential to damage the retina, and MPOD is an indirect indicator of the macula's ability to filter high energy blue light.
The density may also change over time as a result of factors such as age, lifestyle, and dietery choices. The human eye has complex cellular connectivity, and many molecules aid in the normal visual process. Ocular Defense also contains vitamin A and zinc, which aid in the maintenance of normal vision, as well as vitamins C and E and minerals such as copper and zinc, which have antioxidant properties.
