Guwahati Welcomes First-of-its-kind Pharmaceutical Facility

Chemex Global has inaugurated its pharmaceutical API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) manufacturing facility in Guwahati. The CMD of NEDFi, PVSLN Murty, inaugurated the facility on Thursday. The plant is the first in the entire northeastern region and one of the biggest in eastern India. It comprises a highly sophisticated and fully integrated R&D Lab and Bulk Production Facility. The facility will employ more than 200 people at full capacity.

Chemex Global is a unit of Jain Group Ventures (P) Ltd and has been a pioneer in the pharmaceutical industry in the region for the past 30 years. The plant has the latest technologies, including production equipment, robust HVAC systems, sophisticated Analytical/QC instruments, clean rooms, and a water purification system.

“We are a research-driven indigenous solution provider with a team of experienced professionals dedicated to ensuring the quality of our products,” said Pratik Jain, the MD of Chemex Global.

Jain added, “Our mission is to put Assam on the world pharma map. Currently, the API units are largely concentrated in Gujarat and Hyderabad. With numerous formulation facilities in Sikkim, Guwahati, and the Southeast Asian region, Assam is poised to become the next big pharma hub.”

Jain also said, “I envision that with the opening of the trade routes in the form of shipping, commercial airlines, and roadways, Assam & northeast will naturally transition to be the gateway for trade with Southeast Asia & beyond. This puts us in a very strategic position as the first mover in this region. Our initiative will boost the development of the organized industrial ecosystem in the region.”
