The IHW Council, India's premier think-tank for preventive and promotive health, has launched the Spirituality for Health & Environment Alliance (SHE-Alliance), which aims to empower women in society to take the lead on health transformation of families and the environment, thereby contributing to a healthier, happier world for all. The SHE Alliance focuses on developing a strong network of women committed to the cause of promoting life, a concept championed by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has urged the international population to embrace an environmentally and health-conscious lifestyle.
The SHE Alliance will focus on empowering and educating women to meaningfully contribute to illness prevention and environmental promotion across the country, with over 300 cities targeted in the mission's first leg in its inaugural year. The Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, ceremoniously started off the mission at the Mumbai Life Yatra Conclave in the presence of various medical professionals, spiritual leaders, social workers, environmentalists, celebrities, and influencers. In his remarks on the occasion, Acharya Devvrat complimented the IHW Council on the unique concept of SHE that caters to the service of humanity, and expressed his hope that the project will be a huge success and help to nation-building.
"We need to understand the science behind spirituality and free it from religious rituals," he continued. Spirituality awakens you to your universal interconnectedness and your obligation to your body and the earth. We must resurrect our Vedic knowledge for natural and aware life; only this will allow us to maximise our potential to develop a magnificent society and a happier planet for all." Commemorating this special launch, Kamal Narayan, CEO of the IHW Council averred, "Spirituality is often viewed as a concept opposite to science, but the two are deeply interconnected. By understanding this connection, we can harness the power of spirituality to create a more sustainable and healthier world. The SHE Alliance will attempt to popularise the way science considers spirituality as an important means to achieve human progress, health, and prosperity in a thought-provoking manner."
Kishore Kumar Mohatta, founder of Bhakti Sagar Channel and SHE Alliance conveyor, expressed gratitude to the partners and stated that the SHE Alliance will continue to evolve and work towards creating a better country for all by raising awareness about traditional ways of living in harmony with nature and the environment. The event brought together motivational leaders, top doctors, social workers, and entrepreneurs to inspire and urge people to care for their health and the environment using the science of spirituality.
Hanmantrao Gaikwad, chairman & MD, BVG Group, and patron of the SHE Alliance, highlighted the role of SHE in creating nationwide awareness around the two most fundamental aspects of life, which are the health of people and the planet. He reiterated that ancient Indian knowledge of Ayurveda needs to be looked at scientifically and promoted with evidence-based medicines and treatment methods around it.
