Fortis Cancer Institute, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram has launched a first-in-India advanced and cutting-edge Digital PET CT machine for advanced imaging, with the goal of improving cancer diagnosis and revolutionizing precision oncology. One of the most advanced technologies in cancer treatment is the state-of-the-art Digital PET CT with flow motion technology and multi parametric imaging (Digital Biograph vision 450).
The machine was unveiled in the presence of numerous senior oncologists and doctors from Fortis Gurugram, as well as Fortis senior management. Fortis Gurugram is India's first to acquire this technology. Speaking at the launch, Anil Vinayak, Group COO, Fortis Healthcare said, “Advanced imaging technologies are the need of the hour, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Early cancer diagnosis is one the key elements in reducing cancer related mortality. Cancer care needs a multi-disciplinary treatment focused on patient care, this new-age technology will cater to early and advanced diagnosis, which is crucial in overall healing and well-being of cancer patients and survivors.” Dr. Ishita Sen, senior director and head of nuclear medicine at Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Gurugram, said of the PET CT machine,
"This advanced whole body Digital PET CT scanner allows whole body PET CT scans to be performed twice as fast as conventional PET CT scanners, with more than 70% enhanced accuracy and more than 4 times reduced radiation dose to the patient." Because of its extremely high temporal resolution, the equipment can perform dynamic PET imaging and multi parametric imaging, which has the potential to revolutionize how PET CT scans are performed and interpreted. The digital PET CT will add an entirely new dimension to oncology diagnostic imaging."
