The Apollo Transplant Programme has now completed 23,000 transplants, making it the largest vertically integrated healthcare provider in the world. One of the most sophisticated and complete transplant programmes in the world, the Apollo Transplant Programme is renowned for its cutting-edge services. The programme has been performing more than 1,200 transplants annually since 2012.
Despite the difficulties brought on by the Covid pandemic's peak in 2020, 814 transplants were performed. The programme, however, reached new heights in 2022 with an exceptional number of 1,641 transplants, showcasing excellent outcomes and solidifying a reputation based on trust and an unwavering commitment to providing the highest standard of care. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that this programme has the distinction of being the first in India to surpass the important milestones of 18,500 kidney transplants, 4,300 liver transplants, and 500 paediatric liver transplants.
The first successful liver transplants in India were done at Apollo Hospitals in 1998 on an adult and a child, as well as the first liver and kidney combo transplants in 1999.
