Anil Mittal, the Pharmacy Council of India's (PCI) deputy secretary, has been promoted to the position of Registrar-cum-Secretary. On December 1, 2022, he took over as Registrar-cum-Secretary, following the voluntary retirement of PCI's long-term Registrar-cum-Secretary Archana Mudgal. In a circular issued on August 30, 2023, Mittal was promoted to the position of PCI president Dr Montukumar M Patel. In a circular issued on December 1, the PCI stated, "Due to Voluntary Retirement taken by Archna Mudgal, Registrar-cum-Secretary, PCI, Anil Mittal, Deputy Secretary will hold the charge of Registrar-cum-Secretary with effect from December 1, 2022 (forenoon)," advising that all future correspondence should be addressed to Anil Mittal, who will be in-charge of the office.
The Registrar-cum-Secretary shall be the Executive Officer of the Council and administratively responsible to the President, according to the PCI Regulations. The official must be a pharmacy graduate from a recognised university with adequate administrative experience. The Registrar-cum-Secretary of PCI is in charge of preparing, maintaining, revising, and publishing the Central Register in accordance with the provisions of the Act and the Council's orders from time to time. The official is also in charge of the Council's property, as well as the control and management of the office, accounts, and correspondence, among other things. The Secretary-cum-Registrar is also responsible for attending and taking notes at meetings of the Council, Executive Committee, and any committees. The official shall also be responsible for convening the meetings of the various committees of the Council, with the approval of the President, says the Regulations.
