Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Limited has joined forces with Apollo Hospitals to raise awareness during World Cancer Awareness Month. On October 5th, engaging awareness sessions were held at Akums' New Delhi Corporate Office and its subsidiary, Akumentis Healthcare Limited, in Mumbai, focusing on the critical issue of breast cancer.
The sessions ran from 11 AM to 12 PM at both locations, featuring Dr. Parag Kumar, Senior Oncologist from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, as the keynote speaker in New Delhi, and Dr.DipaleeBorade, specializing in Radiology and Oncology, in Apollo Hospital, Mumbai.
Both sessions included informative presentations followed by interactive discussions and a Q&A segment, allowing employees to engage directly with medical professionals. Approximately 200 employees participated at each location, demonstrating a strong commitment to understanding the seriousness of breast cancer, recognizing its symptoms, and exploring preventive care.
The sessions were highly engaging, with employees asking numerous questions to fully grasp the critical nature of the topic. October, recognized as World Cancer Awareness Month and often referred to as Pink October, is a significant time to raise awareness about cancer-related issues globally.
Shri Sanjeev Jain, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Limited, shared his views on the program: “In today’s fast-paced world, paying attention to our health is more important than ever. Akums prioritizes health-related issues, starting with its own community before extending its efforts to the public. Employees actively participate in these initiatives, recognizing that knowledge sharing is a crucial part of fostering awareness.”
Shri Kanishk Jain, Executive Director of Akumentis Healthcare Limited, also shared his thoughts: “In our society, it is essential to raise awareness about critical health issues like breast cancer. By educating people about the disease and its symptoms, we can significantly strengthen India’s fight against cancer. It’s about breaking the silence and fostering awareness.”
The Human Resource and Administration Departments of Akums and Akumentis, along with the Marketing Department of Apollo Hospitals, played a crucial role in organizing this awareness program.
At Akums, we prioritize the mental and physical well-being of our employees. To support this, we regularly organize awareness sessions, health check-up camps, fun activities and co-curricular activities that provide opportunities for employees to focus on their health away from work.
Through these initiatives, Akums aims to empower its workforce with knowledge and foster a supportive environment for discussions around cancer awareness and health.
