HCLFoundation, which drives the corporate social responsibility agenda of global technology company HCLTech in India, has announced the winner NGOs of the 2024 edition of its flagship program, the HCLTech Grant in rural India's perinatal mental health and childcare.
HCLTech Grant supports pioneering projects in sustainable rural development in India across the themes of environment, health, and education. So far, Rs.146.95 crore (approximately $18 million) has been committed by the HCL Foundation through HCLTech Grant. This year, NGO — Sangath (health) will receive Rs. 5 crore (appx. $609,000) for its four-year project.
Sangath’s project EMPOWER to address perinatal depression and malnutrition in villages across three districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Makkala Jagriti’s project will transform the Anganwadi (rural childcare centers) ecosystem to provide quality early childhood care and education to children in 451 villages in the Mysuru district of Karnataka.
“HCLTech Grant is not just about a CSR fund; it is about providing global exposure to Indian NGOs doing path-breaking work in rural development. It promotes the exchange of good practice in the fields of environment, health, and education: ways to change things. Our year-long application process, shortlisting applications, due diligence, site visits, reviews, and verification process ensure that the selection of winners is transparent," he said. The 9th Edition HCLTech Grant recipients showcase innovation and commitment in their fields to address the major challenges in rural India. Their programs are closely aligned with our priorities. Hopefully, it will come in and be permanent. I think we will be very successful. The HCL Foundation continues to strengthen the capacity of NGOs through partnerships and capacity-building programs.
